Longplayer Live
12 September 2009
Longplayer Live was the first performance of Longplayer, a 1000 year long musical composition conceived by artist / composer / musician Jem Finer, originally commissioned by Artangel. It began playing at midnight on the 31st of December 1999, and will continue to play, without repetition, until the last moment of 2999.
A 25 metre wide instrument, made up of six concentric circles of Tibetan Singing Bowls, was used to play a 1000 minute section of the 1000 year long piece of music at London’s Roundhouse on 12 September 2009. Artangel Co-Director Michael Morris said: “the music can be seen as a beacon or rallying call for long-term survival strategies, in a time of quick fix and a culture of short change.”
TSP was appointed to secure coverage for this historic Longplayer Live performance.
