Metal
TSP was approached to work on the launch of Metal Southend (September 2009) and Metal Liverpool (October 2009), new HQs for the organisation founded by Jude Kelly in 2002. Metal provides space for artists and thinkers to develop their ideas and interact with local communities, for mutual benefit.
Metal Southend is located in Chalkwell Park, a Grade II listed building that had fallen into disrepair , despite its central location in a popular public park. Metal's renovation of the space, with the help of award-winning eco architecture practice Zedfactory, has been extremely well received by the locals. Thousands turned out for the launch and Metal's Village Green fair. Jarvis Cocker opened the former, whilst the Blockheads and Billy Bragg were amongst the performers at the latter.
Metal then renovated Liverpool's Edge Hill Station, the world's oldest passenger railway station, to be their headquarters and exhibition space in the city.
