Riflemaker: Andrey Bartenev 'Disco-nexion'

A solo exhibition by flamboyant Russian artist Andrey Bartenev was the first Riflemaker show for 2008.
Known for his performance works with collaborators including Dita von Teese, his set designs and costumes for major international theatres and his work with companies such as Spanish fashion chain Armand Basi, he ‘remixed’ a light installation that had previously been shown in the Russian Pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale.
A glass tunnel of LED light spheres spun with the words ‘disco’ and ‘nexion’ glittering through the gallery windows, so onlookers could experience the work from the street. His one-off performance event at Riflemaker was attended by Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova.
